2013 Color of the Year

The color of the year for 2013 is Lemon Sorbet, according to Benjamin Moore.
"It’s a perfect partner for the evolving palette of fresh pastels that will be favorite interior design colors in the coming year."


Lemon Sorbet. This whispery, gentle tint is a soft, light yellow that goes well with just about every other color. It can tie together a lot of separate colors in a room, such as grays, purples, blues, greens, pinks and taupes, to make a pleasing, cohesive design statement.

Color experts say that yellow makes us feel optimistic, happy, and looking toward a bright future. It also stands out from the colors that surround it, making us feel more energetic, and stimulating creativity, memory and good communication.

In addition to a rise in the use of Lemon Sorbet for 2013, Benjamin Moore predicts more use of pastels and lighter and brighter colors in lots of interior fashions elements, including paint, furniture, bedding, accessories, throw pillows and throws. In fact, Lemon Sorbet is an ideal transition color as we move from the more vibrant colors of the past to soft, light pastels.
